The NETPOA DNS Manager lets you manage DNS records for domains registered with NETPOA — directly from your client area, free of charge. Use it to point your domain to any website, set up email, or verify your domain with services like Google and Microsoft 365, even if you don't host with us.

Who is this for?

  • Domain-only clients — you registered a domain with NETPOA but host your website or email elsewhere (or nowhere yet). This tool is for you.
  • Hosting clients — if your domain has an active hosting package with NETPOA, your DNS is managed automatically by your hosting account. Manage your records in cPanel » Zone Editor instead. The DNS Manager will show you a notice if this applies to your domain.

Step 1 — Open the DNS Manager

  1. Log in to your client area at netpoa.com.
  2. Click NETPOA DNS in the main menu, or go to Domains » My Domains, click your domain, and choose DNS Management from the Manage menu.
  3. Select the domain you want to manage.

Step 2 — Create your DNS zone

If no DNS zone exists for your domain yet, you will see a Create DNS Zone button. Click it once — this creates the zone on our nameservers with sensible defaults. You only ever do this once per domain.

Step 3 — Point your domain to our nameservers

For your records to take effect, your domain must use NETPOA's nameservers:

dns1.netpoa.com
dns2.netpoa.com

If you registered the domain with NETPOA, set these under Domains » My Domains » your domain » Nameservers. Nameserver changes can take up to 24–48 hours to propagate worldwide, though it is usually much faster.

Step 4 — Add your records

In the zone editor, choose a record type, fill in the fields, and click Add Record.

Type What it does Example
A Points a name to an IPv4 address @ → 203.0.113.10 (your web server)
AAAA Points a name to an IPv6 address @ → 2001:db8::1
CNAME Makes a name an alias of another name www → myshop.shopify.com
MX Directs your email @ → mail.example.com (priority 10)
TXT Verification & email security SPF, DKIM, Google/Microsoft verification
SRV Service records Used by some VoIP / chat services
CAA Controls which authorities may issue SSL certificates 0 issue "letsencrypt.org"

Tips:

  • Use @ in the Name field for the domain itself (e.g. example.co.tz), or a prefix like www for a subdomain (www.example.co.tz).
  • TTL (time to live) controls how long resolvers cache the record. The default of 14400 (4 hours) is fine for most uses.
  • Records marked with a lock icon (NS records) are managed by NETPOA and cannot be edited.

One-click presets

Setting up a common service? Use the One-click presets menu to add all the required records at once — for example Google Workspace (Gmail) MX records or Microsoft 365 records — then adjust any verification values the provider gave you.

Editing and deleting records

  • Click Edit next to a record, change the values, and save.
  • Click the trash icon to delete a record. Deleting a record takes effect on our nameservers immediately, but resolvers may cache the old value until the TTL expires.

Frequently asked questions

How long do changes take to work?
Changes are live on our nameservers within seconds. How quickly the rest of the internet sees them depends on the record's TTL — typically minutes to a few hours. Brand-new nameserver changes can take up to 24–48 hours.

I see "Managed by your hosting service" — why can't I edit records?
Your domain has an active hosting package with NETPOA, so its DNS zone is managed by your hosting server and synchronised across our DNS cluster automatically. Edit your records in cPanel » Zone Editor — changes there propagate to all our nameservers.

Can I use this for a domain registered elsewhere?
The DNS Manager is available for domains on your NETPOA account. If your domain is registered elsewhere, transfer it to NETPOA to use the DNS Manager.

I made a mistake — can NETPOA help?
Yes. Every change is logged, and our support team can review and restore your zone. Open a ticket from Support » Open Ticket.
